چکیده

One of the characteristics of most animals is that they are multicellular−in other words− they are composed of many cells. With this multicellularity comes the specialization of cells. In a multicellular organism, each cell does not have to carry out all the activities necessary for the life of the organism. Although most cells of any higher organism have many organelles and metabolic pathways in common, each cell is also unique in expressing some of these components to an enhanced degree in order to fulfill a specific function within the organism. Each cell type has its own role−to secrete a specific product, to contract, to transmit an electrical impulse, and so on. The result of this cellular specialization is that animals consist of a number of different types of cells each with a characteristic size, shape, structure and function. Such cells are said to have differentiated. A vertebrate has more than 100 different types of cells. These cells associated in very organized patterns to perform specialized functions.

Evaluation of Nucleic Acid Sequence Based Amplification (NASBA) and Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction for Detection of Coxsackievirus B3 in Cell Culture and Animal Tissue Samples

Enteroviruses are the causative agents of a number of diseases in humans. Group B coxsackieviruses are believed to be the most common viral agents responsible for human heart disease. Genomic data of enteroviruses has allowed developing new molecular approaches such as Nucleic Acid Sequence Based Amplification (NASBA) for detection of such viruses. In this study, coxsackievirus B3 (CVB3) was de...

High neuronal/astroglial differentiation plasticity of adult rat hippocampal neural stem/progenitor cells in response to the effects of embryonic and adult cerebrospinal fluids

Hippocampal neural stem/progenitor cells (hipp-NS/PCs) of the adult mammalian brain are important sources of neuronal and gial cell production. In this study, the main goal is to investigate the plasticity of these cells in neuronal/astroglial differentiations. To this end, the differentiation of the hipp-NS/PCs isolated from 3-month-old Wistar rats was investigated in response to the embryonic...

Isolation and G-typing of Rotaviruses from diarrheal Calves in Tehran and Alborz provinces, Iran

Rotaviruses group A are the major cause of diarrhea in calves under one month and every year causes enormous economic losses. Serological and molecular techniques can be used for rapid detection of rotaviruses but virus isolation requires specific methods of cell culture and suitable cell lines. In this study, 41 samples were collected from diarrheal calves up to the age of one month, from indu...

Pituitary primary cell culture of Common carp (Cyprinus Carpio) and evaluation of its secretion effect on endocrine activity of incubated ovarian follicles

In this study, five carp pituitary glands were collected and dispersed enzymatically and mechanically. Then, the cells were cultivated as monolayer in MEM (minimum essential medium Eagle). The culture mediawere collected after 72 h and frozen at -20°C. Carp ovarian follicles also were separated mechanically andincubated in BSS (basic salt solution) Cortland medium in 24-well microplates for 48 h...
